Scottish Terrier Puppies

The Scottish terrier puppy appears like a little bundle of joy on the first glance. It is a relatively small dog, which is muscular and short. The body is shorter as compared to the head. The skull being dome shaped gives the head an elongated look.  The eyes are shaped like almonds and the ears are always alert and pricked. The teeth are in one level. The hair on the eyebrows, legs and lower part of the body is longer compared to the other parts. They are generally black or wheatish in color with a little patch of white on their chest.

The temperament of the Scottish terrier puppy is pretty balanced. It is very a friendly and active dog. As the dog matures it becomes a very good watchdog. It is very alert but tends to become very stubborn with age if it is not handed firmly from a young age. They are very sociable and when corrected they do respond to the commands of the master. One must train the dog with persuasion and it is not advisable to play aggressive games with this breed of dog as it may become dominant after maturing.

The Scottish terrier weighs around 8-10kgs and has a height of about 10-11 inches. They basically developed in Britain and hunted down pests that caused havoc to the farmers. Their outer coats protect them extreme weather and hilly terrain. This breed of dog barks a lot and loves to burrow in the soil. The maintenance of this breed is not very difficult. The coat is very wiry and needs to be combed atleast three times a week especially during the shedding season. It should be shaped once every 3 months. It is a very intelligent breed of dog and generally chooses one master loyally.

Scottish terrier puppies are generally of the working dog group. They are very well built and muscular. They aren’t lazy and don’t mind working hard. It is necessary to bathe the dog, clip its nails and clean its ears and eyes. They have a distinct personality and has immense amount of power in their otherwise small bodies. It is very sporty and loves enjoys walks and playing with ball immensely. They are perfect as pets. It is necessary to be clear with the Scottish terrier that the rules of the master’s house must be followed.

The coat of the Scottish terrier is high maintenance. It needs proper attention so that the texture is maintained. Their hair grows long and it needs to be trimmed often. Stripping is a process wherein the Scottish terrier’s dead hair is removed. It is necessary that the master knows how to pluck this dead hair or he has to invest in professional grooming atleast once a year. The trimming is done with electric clippers. Climatically it prefers a cool climate. Overall this breed is very energetic. The Scottish terrier is generally black but at times is wheatish too. It wont be wrong in saying that it is a small bundle of joy with immensely high spirits.
